Note: If you're
planning to test-ride a bike, please arrive at least one hour prior to
sunset and/or 1-2 hours before closing, whichever is earlier. Properly choosing and setting up a bike for a test
ride takes time if it's done right.
Also, the most dangerous time to ride
is just as it's getting dark.
We will not allow test rides
if it's even questionable. Nor will we allow test rides if the
pavement is damp.
Your safety is more important than us
selling a bike.
If you call to find out if we
have a particular model in stock, and plan on coming down to check
it out, please make sure to ask if it's ready to ride.
At any given time 30% of our inventory is unbuilt, and a quick
glance at our bike list doesn't tell us if a particular bike is
built or not. It's something we need to physically check. We
should ask if someone would like us to make sure it's ready to
ride, but sometimes things get hectic and we don't. Please don't
assume that a bike is ready to ride without someone checking to make

Chain Reaction Bicycles is located in Northern
California, on the San Francisco Peninsula. We have two stores,
one located in Redwood City, the other in Los Altos.
In Redwood City

(South of San Francisco, California)
From San
Francisco, head south on 101 to the Woodside Road exit.
Take Woodside Road (also known as Highway 84) west about a mile to
El Camino Real (there will be an overpass). Go north on El Camino
1/2 mile (you will be turning right onto El Camino). Look for a
huge 6-story concrete building on the right-hand side of the road,
opposite a Firestone Tire dealership.
Alternately, if you're closer to 280, take it south to the
Woodside Road exit (Highway 84) and, upon exiting, turn left so
you're heading east (towards the bay). Travel about 3 miles to El
Camino (which has an overpass) and head north on El Camino 1/2
mile. As above, look for a huge 6-story concrete building on the
right-hand side of the road, opposite a Firestone Tire dealership.
From Palo Alto, take 101 or 280
north to the Woodside Road exit, then follow the same directions
above. Or you could just travel north on El Camino and look for
the Woodside Road overpass (the only one on El Camino for miles).
We're 1/2 mile further north on the right-hand side.
From
San Jose, take 280 north to the Foothill Blvd exit (which
is immediately after the Freeway 85 interchange). Immediately upon
exiting the freeway you will see a shopping center on your
right-hand side. That's Foothill Plaza, and we're right in the
middle of it!
From Palo Alto, head west to 280,
and take 280 south to the Foothill exit (which is the last Los
Altos exit and is immediately before you come to the 280/85
interchange). Upon exiting the freeway, turn left onto Foothill
and go under the freeway. The shopping center will be immediately
on your right-hand side.
From Santa Cruz, take Highway 17
to Los Gatos, and then take Freeway 85 north to 280. Head north on
280 and the next exit will be Foothill Blvd. Foothill Plaza will
be immediately on your right-hand side. Very fast & easy!
From Mountain View, take Freeway
85 south to 280, head north on 280, and exit on Foothill Blvd,
which will be the first exit. Foothill Plaza will be immediately
on your right-hand side. An alternative is to take the Homestead
exit off of 85, head north about half a mile, and look for our
shopping center on the left-hand side of the road (there will be a
Blockbuster Video in front of the shopping center).
